McCall’s M5611

This pattern is out-of-print, I think, which isn’t surprising as it’s been curing in my stash for a few years. <vbg> I made view C in a size 6, which is perfect for K. Now that it’s made, I wonder if she might be a tad old for this style; I like it though and I’m sure she’ll wear it a lot as the weather warms up! It only took about an hour from cutting till getting ready to attach the pocket (that part took about 20 minutes because I fussed with it a lot).  I made a few slight modifications–I used the adjustable tie straps from view A, omitted one pocket, changed the angle of the remaining pocket and trimmed it in adorable rainbow ric rac that goes really well! I also topstitched te heck out of it and did two rows of stitching around the pocket and for the hem–something many commercial patterns fail to suggest.  Overall, it was a well-done pattern and went together easily with just one confusing step (attaching the steps and creating the casing for the elastic).  If you know me, you’ll know I am not a fan of Big 4 patterns (McCall’s, Simplicity, Butterick and Vogue…and their subsidiaries) but this one wasn’t too bad at all!   I used a lavender Gutermann poly for the thread–I only keep about 12 colors of thread on hand these days and I was wowed that I had a color that comlimented the print so nicely!
