Lavender to the rescue!

March 12, 2014 by michelejo Leave a Comment

I have another personal success story…really excited about it.

I have a bunch of spots on my arms, shoulders and upper back that have bothered me for years.  I’ve had three skin cancer checks and have been told they are anything from acne (no), normal moles (totally not, I really don’t think so) to keratosis pilaris (again, they don’t look or act like KP…my son has it so I am familiar with it).

Honestly I’ve always thought they look and behave like Basal Cell or Squamous Cell skin cancers, which is scary.  I haven’t been able to get anyone to agree to biopsy or remove them though.  :/  Often they flare up, even bleed and then scab over.  And then they would take forever to heal.

I tried Frankincense and OnGuard on them without a lot of success and gave up trying to treat them for a while.  And as hard as I tried to not mess with them, I often would do just that in my sleep and wake up with several of them scratched.

Finally I read that lavender (one of my favorites anyway) is really good for skin issues.  I put some in a roller bottle (full strength) and started applying it at bedtime (the only time I could really remember).  After one application they looked noticeably better.  After the third, they were pretty much fully healed.  It’s been less than a week and you can barely see them now.  No more itching and pain…and they were so unsightly and gross-looking.

My skin where they were is still slightly raised and scaly-looking if you look close, so I will be going to a new dermatologist and getting yet another opinion as soon as I can get an appointment, now that they’d healed.  But I cannot get over how much relief the lavender EO has provided.  If they ARE skin cancer, they’ll need to be removed…but at least next time I have them looked at, the practioner can see what they REALLY look like healed.
